11 Curology Products for $35

2 half-sized RX, 4 large-sized products, & 5 small-sized products @ $114 Value

As a longtime acne sufferer, I’ve been curious about Curology acne skincare products for a while. I decided to finally take the dive. When I visited the Curology website, I was immediately overwhelmed by all the options I could purchase. The Curology acne skincare product line is immense and includes Curology Acne Cleanser, Curology Emergency Spot Patches and the Clusters version, and Curology Acne Body Wash. Curology also focuses on aging skin, which is another reason I’ve wanted to try them. There are tons of products for aging skin like the Curology Dark Spot Serum.

Curology's Approach to Hormonal Acne:

  • Curology offers personalized acne treatments without the need for expensive health insurance.

  • Members start with a skin quiz and receive a custom formula with powerful ingredients.

What Curology acne skincare products should you try first?

Given there are so many options on the Curology website, what should you start with? Well, luckily, Curology understood the product line overwhelm and had an answer for that. There’s the Curology Starter Set for $28. The starter set comes with Gentle Cleanser (aka the Cleanser), Gel Moisturizer (aka the Moisturizer), and the Emergency Spot Patch. These are all full-size products, and the set provides a $6 savings vs purchasing individually for their Curology acne skincare products.

Curology Gentle Cleanser (aka the Cleanser): This cleanser is lightly foaming, gel-based, and made for all skin types but specifically designed for those with sensitive skin.

Curology Gel Moisturizer (aka the Moisturizer): This lightweight, buildable formula, is an everyday moisturizer that easily works into your skin, and provides a base layer for anything that may be added to your skin after.

Curology Emergency Spot Patch: These hydrocolloid bandages provide fast-acting healing support for sudden blemishes by concealing spots while absorbing fluid and excess oil.

The Curology Starter Set for $28 will get you $2 away from free shipping and shipping is $4.95. If you’re like me, I would rather spend a couple extra dollars on another product than waste money on shipping. I’m a fool for the free shipping system. The best options are as follows:

  1. The Curology Micellar Makeup Remover - Mini 50 ML $6

  2. The Curology Sunscreen SPF 30 - Mini 20 ML $9

  3. The Curology Cream Moisturizer - Mini 25 ML $9

  4. The Curology Acne Body Wash - Mini 100 ML $8

  5. The Curology Lip Balm - 5 Options $8

Includes these 3 products and an invitation to get 8 more products for $5

More Curology acne skincare products at a discounted price…

After you purchase the Curology Starter Set for $28 and it arrives at your home, there will be an offer inside your box for an Rx skincare routine for more Curology acne skincare products. You’ll only need to pay shipping of $5, plus a couple of dollars in taxes. My order came out to a little over $7, and I received 2 small items that were custom Rx, and 6 small skincare items from the online store.

You’ll have to go through the Curology online questionnaire to get your custom skincare. My opinion is that it’s not “custom” per se, but rather, Curology likely has 3-5 options that their doctors approve upon you filling out the questionnaire with certain options. Either way, you cannot get the first two products listed here without a doctor’s Rx. The Curology acne skincare products online store is really their entry products to their Rx line. That’s their unique business model.

What did I get when I filled out the Curology questionnaire?

The first two Curology acne skincare products are my Curology Rx. They did give me a small size of them, and the following shipment was only 3 weeks after I ordered and it took a whole week for Curology to ship the products this time.

In short, if you plan on canceling before the next payment, keep an eye on the dates. The initial order only cost me $7.37 with shipping and tax. This order was supposed to be $79.33 and I was given that amount as a discount. I would potentially keep Curology, however, 2 weeks isn’t enough time for me to know if the Curology acne skincare products are working well. I know from experience that Rx’s for acne take time to work. Typically 4-6 weeks to get an initial analysis. The second Rx order is double the first, and it’s a full two-month supply. Everything is customizable in your order and the online Curology acne skincare products shop is discounted by about 20%.

  1. Curology Small Custom FormulaRx

    • Tretinoin 0.06%

    • Clindamycin phosphate 1%

    • Azelaic acid 6%

  2. Curology Small Deep CleanseRx

    • Salicylic acid 1%

    • Zinc pyrithione 0.5%

  3. Curology Small Rich Moisturizer

  4. Curology Small Emergency Spot Patches

  5. Curology Small Acne Body Wash

  6. Curology Lip Balm (passion fruit)

  7. Curology Small Micellar Makeup Remover

  8. Curology Small Barrier Balm

Why choose Curology out of all the skincare products?

Curology is unique for several reasons including…

Customization: Curology offers personalized acne skincare products and formulations based on an individual's skin concerns and needs. Users typically start by filling out an online questionnaire, providing information about their skin type, concerns, and goals. A licensed dermatology provider then reviews this information and creates a customized formula tailored to the user's specific needs.

Telemedicine Approach: Curology operates as a telemedicine platform, allowing users to consult with licensed dermatology providers online. This approach provides accessibility to a dermatologist without proof of insurance and from the convenience of one’s home and busy schedule.

Subscription Model: Curology operates on a subscription model, where customers receive a regular shipment of their customized Curology acne skincare products. This can make skincare more convenient for users, as they don't have to worry about reordering products. Everything is cancellable and customizable at any point in the skincare journey.

Active Ingredients: Curology formulations often include active ingredients commonly used in dermatology, such as tretinoin, niacinamide, azelaic acid, and more. The concentrations and combinations of these ingredients are adjusted based on the individual's Curology acne skincare product needs.

  • Tretinoin Rx: A retinoid known for its effectiveness in promoting skin renewal, improving texture, and addressing signs of aging. The brand name we’re all familiar with is (Retin-A).

  • Clindamycin Rx: An antibiotic that helps combat acne by reducing the presence of acne-causing bacteria on the skin.

  • Azelaic Acid: A multitasking ingredient that can help with acne, inflammation, and hyperpigmentation.

  • Niacinamide (Vitamin B3): Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, niacinamide can help soothe the skin, improve the appearance of pores, and address discoloration.

  • Zinc Pyrithione: Often used for its anti-fungal and antibacterial properties, zinc pyrithione can be beneficial for those dealing with certain types of acne.

Feedback Loop: Users are encouraged to provide feedback on their progress, and the dermatologist can adjust the compounded formula as needed. This ongoing feedback loop allows for continuous customization of the Curology acne skincare products routine.

How to get the most Curology acne skincare products for $35:

I’ve seen Reddit threads and Instagram posts where folks have purchased their first Curology acne skincare products and only received a few items. Since you get “your customized skincare routine” for $5, you must select the most options throughout the questionnaire.

You’ll just want to be VERY careful to cancel or move your subscription date out after your first order ships. It took Curology one whole week to ship my first order, and the resubscribe was set to ship less than two weeks later. Because I selected the maximum amount of products, and Curology ships 2-months at a time, my next payment would be around $160.

Here are some screenshots to showcase how to ensure you’re provided the most Curology acne skincare product options, while still getting what you actually need for your skin.

By making the above selections in the Curology questionnaire, I received 4 full sized products and 7 small-sized or half-sized products from the Curology acne skincare products (including my initial purchase of the Curology Starter Set).

If the $5 Curology acne skincare products are offered directly online, jump on it! It’s not always offered.

Do Curology products work on adult acne and hormonal acne?

The big question, right? None of this matters if the Curology acne skincare products aren’t good. As far as my personal results, I’m one of the fortunate that has access to a good insurance plan and I get Tretinoin and Clindamycin with Peroxide as two separate Rx through insurance, and it’s only $10 a month for me. These products work very well and I’ve been using them since 13 years old. I just get them cheaper and delivered to my door from another avenue.

In regards to the Curology acne skincare products in the online store, they seem really good and high quality. I do require a higher intensity moisturizer, which is why I’m drawn more towards the Curology Rich Moisturizer and I like salicylic acid in my moisturizer, which Curology doesn’t provide (yet). I am planning on trying the Curology Dark Spot Serum. My favorite products are the Curology Emergency Spot Patches and the Clusters version, and Curology Acne Body Wash.

As far as others go, customers seem to have positive results with Curology acne skincare products, finding improvement in their acne or other skin issues. However, skincare is subjective and individual, and what works for one person may not work for another.

Are Curology acne skincare products covered by FSA & HSA?

A good amount of Curology acne skincare products are covered by your Flexible Spending Account or Health Savings Account. However, not all products are covered. If the Curology product is specifically designed to help with acne, eczema, psoriasis or another medical skin condition, it is covered by your FSA and HSA. This includes any product with the Accepted by the National Eczema Association seal.

Other Curology acne skincare products that are accepted by FSA and HSA are any products with SPF 15 or higher. Lastly, if you purchase any Rx products, these will absolutely be covered by your FSA or HSA as any Rx would be.

Below is a list of Curology acne skincare products that should qualify under your FSA and HSA. A couple products don’t explicitly say the word “acne” on the bottle even if that’s their intended purpose. For those, it may be best to submit them with other products that do say acne, eczema, and/or SPF if you have a finicky FSA administrator.

Your FSA or HSA debit card won’t likely work during the transaction. You’ll have to submit for reimbursement. If you have products that don’t qualify for your FSA in your Curology purchase, simply remove the value when submitting for reimbursement. Your initial purchase will be $5-$35 so this is mostly for future purchases or additions to your initial order as those items will be heavily discounted.

Please note: If you plan on cancelling or pushing your order date after the first month but you want to try more Curology acne skincare products, buy more now because they’ll be discounted now and they won’t be discounted once you stop your Rx subscriptions.
