Review of Yoga & Netflix Night In Items: Brentwood Home Crystal Cove Yoga Bolster & Meditation Pillows
I’ve had my Brentwood Home Crystal Cove yoga bolster and meditation pillow set for over a year, and I can’t imagine a life before them. Yes, I’m a gal that lives in Berkeley, CA so maybe I fit a California yuppy yoga woman stereotype. None the less… here are all the reasons I love my Brentwood Home Crystal Cove Yoga Pillow Set.
Before quarantine, I used to go to spinning in San Francisco every Monday at Flywheel Sports and Wednesday at Wheel House, and I would attend a Yoga Class on Sundays at either Namaste Yoga in Oakland, CA or Yoga Tree in Berkeley, CA. It’s so sad because two of my four favorite exercise class spots have closed already. Flywheel Sports was always so busy you couldn’t even get a seat if you registered too late and they had probably 80 bikes in the room.
To be fully candid, I haven’t gained weight in the year since quarantine, but I have lost a lot of muscle and I don’t feel as physically healthy. Group class works best for me. I really do need the subliminal pressure of someone holding plank next to me to force me to hold plank longer. I know… I should be better than that, but I’m just not there yet.
Online Yoga Class isn’t as good for me (although I do like the Free Popsugar Yoga YouTube), but we all do what we can right now. I do my daily walks with my dog Tyrion, my morning yoga stretches for my tight hips and back problems and a bike ride once a week and a hike with my Husband Matt and dog once a week to Lake Anza in Tilden Park during the seven non-rainy Spring and Summer months in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The exterior cloth is so soft and easy to wash. I’ve already washed mine three times in the over one year I’ve owned mine. The cloth doesn’t contain any flame retardants, heavy metals, formaldehyde, or phthalates. The yoga pillow covers are easy to take on and off. The only one that takes a little more finagling is the Meditation Oval Yoga Pillow. The other two are super easy. I’m not vegan, but I care about quality, I hate animal testing, and I’ve been decreasing my meat and dairy consumption significantly for environmental and health reasons. I also have a ton of allergens, and I know Brentwood Home puts a quality product together.

Another noteworthy consideration is that Costco does sell Brentwood Home items and I’ve purchased both the Brentwood Home Crystal Cove Yoga Pillow Set, the Brentwood Home Whitney Wedge Pillow for when I’m sitting up in bed, and two of the Original Essential Casper Pillows with Down Alternative. Our bed is down-free and we use silk-fill for our comforter too. Not vegan because it’s silk, but it’s hypoallergenic, thinner and contains heat almost as well as down. I can’t recommend the Essential Casper Pillow enough for the price if you want to go down-free. We bought our first silk-filled comforter when we visited China, and our second silk filled comforter from Costco when we upgraded to a King bed. It’s worth checking out their website if you have a membership.
Overall, I give my review of Brentwood Home Crystal Cove Yoga Pillow Set a 9.5 on a scale of 10. I’ve used them 3-4 days a week for more than a year. You won’t be disappointed with the quality. Why not a 10 out of 10? I rarely give that, and I expect perfection for a perfect score and that doesn’t really exist. A 9.5 is pretty flipping great in my scoring.
If you’re at the point where you’re getting yoga pillows, make sure you’ve also got stellar yoga blocks. I love my cork yoga blocks my Husband bought me for Christmas a few years ago. The yoga mat in the picture above is the yoga mat by Manduka. The yoga blocks pictured are the perfect weight, size and structure, and they aren’t an eye sore in my living room with my beautiful yoga pillows in the corner of the room. :)
I’m slowly getting better at doing my yoga and stretches. I have the most tight hips and they flair up a couple times a month where my hips are so bothersome when I wake up in the morning. If you’re a fellow tight hip person, try some of these yoga poses.
