The Best Wine to Pair With Panda Express
The best wine to pair with Panda Express? Ok, so maybe I shouldn’t be outing myself for having so much expertise in this area, but Panda Express has been one of my go-to delivery orders during the shelter-in-place. I’ve become quite the novice-expert in pairing cheap foods with great wines, with all the oxymorons that this statement holds.
One of my favorite wines to pair with Panda Express chow mein and orange chicken with a smooth, dry and slightly acidic pinot noir like Dawn’s Dream, Alyssa 2016 or 2017. Another Panda Pairing has been the Runaway Red Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley, Oregon. I got the Runaway Red when I was at a wine tasting event for Mayacamas (#2 winery by Wine Spectator 2020) at Verve Wine in San Francisco. I highly recommend this wine joint when things go back to normal. I also give my stamp of approval to both wines, especially Dawn’s Dream as it’s my favorite go-to pinot noir in the world (yes, I said it).
Wine has this reputation of being something that should be paired with nice foods, but I’m a believer that the experience can be elevated by bringing wine into it. Also, a nice glass helps. If you don’t wash them in the dishwasher, they last longer.
I haven’t tried this Panda Express wine pairing yet, but I’ve heard that Riesling is the go-to wine for Chinese food in general. I’ll give this a go sometime and report back.
In the meantime, Panda Express Orange Chicken and Dawn’s Dream, Alyssa Pinot Noir are my jam… Until the diet that is. I hope you enjoyed this edition of wines to pair with Panda Express… I think I’m going to go pop a bottle and order some orange chicken now.
