Interview with Lureena Cornwell: Transitioning from Theatre to Twitter During Covid

Podcast Services & Where to Listen

Spotify - Apple - Google - iHeart Radio - Stitcher - Podbean - iTunes

In this episode, I interviewed Actress and Comedian Lureena Cornwell on her experience transitioning from improving at a theatre in Chicago, to creating and sharing video content online due to the theatre closures for Covid-19.

I first saw one of Lureena’s comical videos on Twitter when I was three glasses of wine in, and I immediately knew I had to interview her for The Bossy Sauce podcast! The video I first saw was the “Karen Needs Her Egg McMuffin” video:

Lureena has such a magnetic energy. After watching one or two of her videos, you’ll be hooked and seeking her Twitter page out as a regular fix for some laughter and positivity in your life. Trust me when I say, she’s on her way up and we’re about to witness the beginnings of an Ilana Glazer, Carrie Brownstein, Kate McKinnon, or Jessica Williams. She’s hilarious, but with heart and a mission.

I think Lureena Cornwell and I completely enjoyed our chat. Honestly, it was just so nice talking to another human (that wasn’t my husband) this week. Is that ok to admit?

If you’re curious about the American Idol video we referenced at the end of the episode, here’s the video:

Lureena Cornwell only started her Twitter account and video content creation in April, 2020, when Covid-19 forced her into quarantine and when her Theatre closed. It’s July 24th, 2020 the day of publishing for this podcast and blog piece and she has nearly 8,000 followers. Anyone that’s had a Twitter account and has tried to actively grow a following knows that’s impressive.

If you want to follow Lureena Cornwell on Twitter (and you should want to) you can find her @makesgoodsoup!
